In addition to the traditional paper parchment of the academic qualification, the University of Turin has joined the digital certification program that certifies cross-disciplinary (soft) skills and academic qualifications through Blockcerts notarized in the blockchain and Open Badge on the Digital Credentialing System Bestr.

Since 2023, to address the demand for developing digital solutions that adhere to national and international laws, open badges and digital certifications have been provided to graduates in Business Administration.

This project's primary goal is to monitor and advance competencies acquired across several domains, ranging from academic to experiential. The ability for each path to be verified and integrated into a person's knowledge base, guaranteeing both professional and personal progress, is the new added value.

UniTo released (without fee for the graduates) the digital credentials for the second-cycle degree course through:

• Open Badge: it is an open technical standard that includes the program description of the degree, identity verification, thesis title, abstract, supervisor, keywords, average scores of exams, and graduation score. It may be validated by any system that supports OBI (Open Badge Infrastructure).
• Blockcerts notarized in the blockchain: it’s an open standard used to digitally express a certificate, store it, and save it on a blockchain so that it can always be verified without the need to contact the issuing organization or platform. These digital records are registered on a blockchain called Blockchain Ethereum of University of Turin, cryptographically signed, tamper-proof, and shareable. It's a digital copy of the paper parchment signed by the rector.

Graduates will receive an email from Bestr UniTo at noreply@bestr.it in their university mailbox outlining how to obtain their open badge and blockcerts (Digital certificate) upon completion of their study.
